One of the best things about birthdays when you get older is getting money that you can spend on whatever you like for yourself. As has been the recent trend in my life, I ended up spending some of my birthday money on needlework books. I couldn't help it.
Star Trek. Cross stitch. It's like the most perfect of perfect Emily books. Charlie first saw it at Austin Books & Comics one day, and he found it for me again when we were there on my birthday. It was an instant purchase. Charlie wants me to make him the padd 'system failure' pattern, I definitely see that happening in the near future!
I've been trying to find a copy of this for a while now, and a used copy ended up at Half Price Books up on Anderson Mill. I can tell the transfers were used but I usually trace with a vanishing fabric pen and work from there, so that's not a huge issue for me. I really want to make tea towels with the planet and spaceship patterns. I love Jenny Hart's work!
Another Half Price Books find. The patterns are absolutely adorable. Vintage, classic designs with a modern presentation. I love the samplers and must find something for the great wing patterns. It's a mixture of cross stitch and embroidery patterns, which I'm hoping will get me to work more on my embroidery skills.
I feel so inspired to craft! We'll have to see what I can get done before the school year starts…

You may have just convinced me to re-learn cross stitch.
ReplyDeleteMy mom cross stitched a regulation-size Monopoly board in the 80s. It's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteSublime Stitching's stuff is so awesome, that should be enough to convince you! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's REALLY awesome. I almost picked up a Looney Tunes cross stitch because because of how ridiculously corny it was, but Half Price Books wanted $30 because it was OOP. Not worth it.
