Knitters like to be pampered too (so do crocheters!). People may not realize this, but working with yarn and fabric on a regular basis can dry out the skin on a fiber crafter's hands, especially cotton. The same goes for wool socks, except sometimes wool does such a good job of keeping the feet warm that moisture doesn't reach the skin's surface (which is part of why people think wool is 'scratchy').
Luckily some very clever folks have come up with lotions and creams with fiber crafters in mind. Heel is one of the first things to come to mind. Designed by the folks who made Soak, a no-rinse wool wash great for washing handknits, Heel is a fantastic, light foot cream that is quickly absorbed and is perfect for feet about to be covered in the gloriousness that is a handknit sock.
Our favorite at the shop is the pear scented Lavishea; as soon as anyone puts it on they immediately want to lick their hands! The pear is also nice because it uses skin-safe, natural fragrance. They also have a 'Man' scent and a 'Tattoo' scent, both of which I find intriguing… There's even a 'Yarn Bar,' which is the ultimate stocking stuffer:
Both of these make excellent stocking stuffers, are under $10, and will definitely encourage your favorite crafter to pamper themselves as they work. They're also easy to take around, especially the Lavishea. And if you're in Austin, you can stop by Hill Country Weavers and pick some up in person!

Our personal favorite at HCW is the peppermint 'flavor'. It's nice and light, and just fragrant enough to make you feel quite decadent as you apply. And it helps keep the skin on your feet smooth and soft.
When it comes to a crafter's hands there isn't much better out there than Lavishea. Their lotion comes in a bar form, which means it's not greasy and doesn't leave a residue. It melts with your body heat and is quickly absorbed, meaning there is very little down time between smoothing some Lavishea on your hands and getting back to knitting.
