Chances are if you know a knitter, crocheter, spinner, or weaver, that person is a member of Ravelry. Ravelry is a free site that acts as an index of patterns, yarns, and projects by crafters all over the world. It also is a vehicle for finding and selling books about knitting, crochet, and spinning, and a place where people chat and share their love of fiber crafting.
Ravelry is an incredible resource for crafters and is completely free to sign up for and use. It has completely changed the way knitters and crocheters approach projects, find things to make, and talk about their craft! And there's no better way to support Ravelry than buying some of the really cute stuff they have for sale in their Mini-Mart.
If you know a knitter or crocheter than this is a great place to look for fun and useful gifts. Like this Ravelry Bob tape measure:

Bob is the unofficial Ravelry mascot, a French Bulldog that is part of Jess & Casey's family, the creators of the site. The added bonus here is a crafter can never have enough tape measures! I mean it. I like to keep one near every place I like to sit and knit or crochet.
Something else a fiber crafter can never have enough of are project bags!
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Ravelry Project Bag[/caption]
This is something that even crafters forget to think about sometimes. What's the best way to transport a project? If they're anything like me, they always have a small something with them to work on. These bags are super cute, designed by a Ravelry user(!), and are perfect for protecting small projects on the go. It also shows crafters out in public that this crafter is a Ravelry member! And from my experience you can meet all sorts of great people out and about just by having something Ravelry related showing.
For those of you in Austin fretting about the Bag Ban coming in 2013, you can pick up a cute tote bag from the Ravelry Mini-Mart as well.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="438"] Notions Sling Tote[/caption]
This Sling Tote is cute and functional, and has a little pocket inside to store notions (or a phone/wallet/etc.) and can double as a project bag for bigger things (blankets, cardigans, shawls, etc.).
And what's great about buying from the Ravelry Mini-Mart is you are supporting a webpage that has made such a fantastic, positive impact on the crafting community! So if you have a knitter or crocheter to shop for, swing by the Rav Mart to get them something they'll like and support something they love.
