I did a bit of a clothing&shoes purge last week, and when I dropped off my donation at Goodwill I poked around in the housewares area and snagged a few good items:

The Frugal Gourmet and The Good Housekeeping Cookbook are probably the most exciting things I found today. Those cookbooks were staples at my parents' place when I was growing up. The recipes are very straightforward and classic. The Frugal Gourmet was renowned for integrating international dishes into home cooking. And though neither book are vegan/vegetarian, the majority of the recipes are easy to alter because they don't use a ton of dairy! A few use butter or cheese, but most recipes rely on broths and herbs to season. Adapting would just involve replacing the meat. Sometimes older recipes are actually better for veganizing. I also love how both books talk in detail about food types, how to prepare and cook beans, veggies, fruits, and grains, how to make sure you pick ripe fruit and veggies, and other considerations when buying fresh goods. They're also categorized by food content rather than meal type for the most part, which makes finding recipes for certains types of veggies and grains much easier.
I don't have a proper cookie sheet, so the heart-shaped one was a must. And the bundt pan is needed for this recipe (also just good to have, and before today I have never had one).
I also snagged a laundry basket to make carrying clothing down to the washroom a bit easier. It was quickly appropriated by one of my furry housemates.
