So. I'm not sure where this idea came from, but wouldn't it be fun to have a bingo card to carry along at Gallifrey One in February? You know, with each square containing a crazy thing, a costume type, a panel type, a guest, an autograph to get, a vendor to visit... kind of like a more fun way to keep a checklist of all the cool and crazy stuff that inevitably happens at Gallifrey One every year?
It's already been suggested that the free space be a fez or a bowtie. Both awesome suggestions. Or maybe a piece of celery?
So something like this:
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Doctor Who "The End of Time (part 2)" Bingo Card"][/caption]
Post your suggestions here and I'll throw together one (maybe more if the suggestions are super awesome) bingo cards that we circulate at Gally!

... but for Gally stuff. Like "take a picture of a live Dalek," "hang with the knitters," "take a picture with a TARDIS," "survive Lobbycon," "collect 20+ badge ribbons" .... or whatever. I think it'd be fun!

Maybe one square can be "meet x number of podcasters" which would encourage newbies to meet some podcasters who can in turn introduce them to some of the other con-goers.
ReplyDeleteIf the cards are cool enough maybe they can be handed out at the Gallifrey 101 panel :)
I like the idea of meeting *someone.* Maybe introduce yourself to someone you've never seen at a Gally before or get the initials of someone who's been to five Gallies. Something to mix up the n00bs and the old timers. (As a n00b and an introvert, it is especially intimidating to walk up to someone who's in the middle of a big well acquainted group.)
ReplyDeleteMore: Spot an old school Doctor. "Stetsons are cool." Sarah Jane cosplay. Fem doctor costume. Fan meltdown over the death of Ianto Jones.
This is a great idea!
Oh god, Ianto fan meltdown. Hilarious.
ReplyDeletePregnant Gwen, In-N-Out bag/cup, bellhop trolley full of costumes, Femmy Doctor (individual squares for each Doctor), ginger wig, Snowball microphone.
ReplyDeleteActually, most of those are a given. We need more obscure squares.
At the Black Sheep Gathering, we have Black Sheep Bingo every year, wherein each square is a different Ravelry member you need to find (each member stamps or signs their square). Maybe do the same thing with Twitter names? It is a nice excuse to meet new people you might not otherwise have had the nerve to introduce yourself to. It's not actually competitive, but it is a lot of fun.
Show a first-timer the way somewhere.
ReplyDeleteJoin a party that isn't part of the planned convention activities.
Fast-food run with too many people in the car.
Bug on someone's back.
Make a new Twitter friend. (... blog, Gallifrey Base, Etsy, name your poison...)
Costume that combines multiple Doctors at once.
... I don't know; I'm not very imaginative. But I'd play! Enthusiastically!
Want an obscure square?
ReplyDeleteColin Baker's cat grafiti.
